We'll cover the basics of pronunciation, formal and informal greetings, and asking and answering basic questions about yourself. ​You'll create a foundation for your grammatical understanding of the French language. Texto 1 dossiers 0-2

Practice what you've learned in real life! Engage in conversations about hobbies, past times, and daily life. Students should have completed all Beginner level classes or be at an A1 level. ​

French Intermediate 1: A2.1 part 1

Fall 2026

Thursdays, January 15th- March 5th; 5:30-7pm

Dig deeper into expressing goals and weekend plans with the future simple tense, give advice, explore French cinema, and learn about the city of Nantes, France. The challenge will be navigating 3 verb tenses à la fois!​​ This course is designed to focus on the speaking aspects with a bit of grammar instruction.  Texto 2 dossier 1

French Intermediate 2: A2.1 part 2

Fall 2026

Thursdays, March 19th- May 14th; 6-7pm

Dig deeper into exploring locations in France by learning how to choose a place to stay. Topics covered include how to search for and ask questions about lodging, comparing types of lodging, and justifying your choices. This exploration will take place in the city of Nice, France. Expressing past events, cause and consequences, and build vocabulary through the themes of art, expressing life changes, and ecology. We'll sprinkle in culture through French hand gestures and colloquial expressions. Texto 2 dossier 3

French for Kids!

Fall 2026

3-5 years on Saturdays 9:30-10:15 am; 6-9 years on Saturdays 10:30-11:15 am

Series 1: January 10- March 14th

Series 2 (continuation): April 11- June 13th

Sessions will be held in French & English with a focus on transitioning away from English. We focus on songs, games, and play. Class held at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in the annex room. It's the perfect time for you to explore the farmers market just outside or have a coffee in the café down the hall.  

$160 per series; $300 for both

Payment is due prior to joining a group or private class. All classes are subject to a full refund 7 days before the start of class. A student-canceled registration within 7 days of a start date or after is subject to a 50% refund. Books are fully refundable if returned in their original state.

All group classes meet at 303 West Broad (formerly called Common House) on Broad St. or the Main Branch Public Library on E. Franklin Street in downtown RVA. Locations are determined based on enrollment the week of your first class.

Summer Camp for kids!

2 weeks of camp: July 21-23rd & July 28-30th

​     5-7 years; 9-12 pm

    8-11 years; 12:30- 3:30 pm

Sessions will be held in French & English with a focus on transitioning away from English. We focus on songs, games, and play while learning the language and culture. Class held at The Richmond Waldorf School. To register, create a login account and submit payment via Popsicle

$100 per week

Taste French wines chosen by our hosts at Chez Nous and learn French vocabulary brought to you by Corinne! This free, open door event will help you feel confident describing what we see, taste, and think as well as expressions specific to wine tasting in French. When you're done head upstairs with a bottle and a bite to eat! Wine will be available for purchase.
